Georg and Emily von Opel
Von Opel, 51 last Thursday, is a director of two UK green energy operations, GVO Wind and Hemswell Biogas. Much of the family money is held in Hansa, a holding company with assets of £1.416bn. A great-grandson of Adam Opel, founder of the German car company, Von Opel owns all of Hansa, whose interests include stakes in a Swiss hotel chain and shopping centres in Russia and Algeria. Von Opel's London-born wife Emily, 43, plays an active role in the Von Opel Foundation, which supports poor and vulnerable children. The couple divide their time between Britain and Switzerland.
