Stephenson, 70 on Thursday, is investing in a £450m marine energy park on the south bank of the Humber estuary, offering state-of-the art facilities to make wind turbines. He established his Teesside-based Able UK in 1966 from home and built it up to be an expert in decommissioning ships, operating ports and, more recently, land development. Able UK’s parent made a £14.3m profit on £21.2m sales in 2015 and is worth its assets of £432m.
