Sir Ray Tindle
Tindle, 90, started in newspapers while on a troop ship to India in 1944. His 185 local newspapers range from the South London Press to the Cornish & Devon Post. Surrey-based Tindle Press Holdings and other smaller operations showed £3m profit and had nearly £65.5m net assets in 2014-15. Last year Tindle bought three Isle of Man titles for £4.3m.
