After a rough ride on the stock market in the past year Glasgow plant hire and temporary-power supply group Aggreko is worth £2.6bn, with the Salvesen family’s 20% stake valued at £460m – a fall of £68m on last year. In 2007 the takeover of the Christian Salvesen logistics business netted the family £60m and it also owns Lanarkshire-based seafood producer Dawnfresh, which showed £30.5m assets in 2016. Salvensen, 75, attended Fettes College and is deputy chairman of its trust, a charity that raises money for the Edinburgh private school and its pupils.
