Crispin Odey and Nichola Pease
Odey, 58, donated £873,328 to the victorious “leave” campaign but his Mayfair-based Odey Asset Management was a big loser in the weeks after the referendum poll. Pessimistic bets on the UK economy backfired when the markets rallied. His £6.5bn hedge fund lost 49.5% of its value across 2016 yet even before Brexit it was under pressure, with profits sinking from £83.7m to £44.4m in 2015-16. His wife Nichola Pease was deputy chairman of JO Hambro Capital Management at the time of its sale in 2011, picking up £26m for her stake. Odey once spent £150,000 on a Buckingham Palace-style henhouse for the chickens on their Forest of Dean estate.
