Sir Douglas Myers died last month after a long battle with cancer. He was 78. After selling his Lion Nathan drinks operation nearly 20 years ago the New Zealand-born brewer bought the rights to John Lennon's post-Beatles music from Yoko Ono and funded a scholarship for fellow Kiwis to study at his alma mater, Cambridge University. He lived at a country estate near Farnham, Surrey, and even after his hefty charitable donations the 2016 New Zealand rich list valued him at £512m. He sold his superyacht Senses for £30m to Google co-founder Larry Page in 2011.
