Billed by newspapers as "Britain's biggest divorce", Caring, 68, is facing the fallout after parting last year from Jacqui, his wife of 45 years. Caring's restaurants include the Ivy, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and has spawned four London cafes and five bar and grill operations under the Ivy Collection, with all-day menus offering classic British dishes. Two more brasseries are due to open in Surrey and Buckinghamshire this month. Caring also has Le Caprice, Scott's and Sexy Fish in Mayfair. A close friend of Sir Philip Green (qv), he made his money in fashion, sourcing clothes in Hong Kong for UK retailers. Caring’s interests would easily have pushed him to £710m, but the mooted divorce, particularly from a long-term spouse, is hanging over him.
