Foreign exchange, Investment
Built in Germany and measuring more than 320ft, the fourth yacht owned by Lewis to bear the name Aviva will be, in his words, "more than an office – it's also my home for much of the year". For East Ender Lewis, 80, the millions poured into the vessel will be loose change. Having made his fortune in the hospitality business, he now invests through his Tavistock operation, which has interests in more than 200 companies worldwide. He also has a stake in UK pub operator Mitchells & Butlers, which has fallen further in value to £272m.
His vast art collection includes works by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon. Despite the Mitchells & Butlers share drop, Lewis will be pleased his other quality British asset, Tottenham Hotspur football club, is riding high in the Premier League.
